The College’s academic accountability arrangements operate alongside its wider institutional governance framework, enabling the Academic Board to provide strategic academic assurance to the Board of Governors while preserving the independence of academic judgement. Through regular reporting, performance monitoring and governance review, the College demonstrates accountability for the quality, integrity and effectiveness of its academic provision.

Academic accountability is achieved through clearly defined responsibilities across the College’s governance structure. 

  • Academic leaders are accountable for implementing approved academic policies, maintaining academic standards and monitoring institutional performance.
  • Academic committees provide detailed scrutiny of programme quality, assessment, student outcomes and enhancement activities within their delegated responsibilities.
  • The Academic Board exercises strategic oversight of academic matters, evaluates institutional performance and provides academic assurance to the Board of Governors.
  • The Board of Governors receives assurance regarding academic quality, standards and student outcomes as part of its responsibility for institutional oversight.
