What is ICT?

Information and Communication Technology is concerned with the use of computers and related technologies.  During the course, students gain practical knowledge of common software applications, including word processors, spreadsheets, databases, interactive presentation software, e-mail, web browsers and website design.  They learn the basic concepts of ICT, gain awareness of how applications are used in the workplace, and consider the impact of new technologies on methods of working and on social, economic, ethical and moral issues.

ICT combines well with any other subject at GCSE level.

Leads to?

Knowledge of ICT is a life skill which benefits any field of study or career.  Students who gain good grades can continue studies at A Level in ICT or Computing.  Relevant University courses include Information Systems and Computer Science.
